This Privacy Policy explains how Gizlo ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our platform at gizlo.dev. By using Gizlo, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Age Requirements

Gizlo is not directed at children under 13. You must be 13 years of age or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will delete their account and associated data.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Gizlo, we collect the following information:

• Account information — your username and a hashed (encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
• Game data — games you create, including titles, descriptions, scene data, and scripts.
• Session tokens — a unique token generated when you log in, used to keep you authenticated.
• Social connections — if you choose to connect your YouTube account, we store your YouTube channel ID, channel name, and channel URL.
• Friends and notifications — friend requests, accepted friends, and in-platform notifications.
• Chat messages — messages sent in game sessions pass through our servers and are filtered for inappropriate content. We do not permanently store chat messages.
• Visit counts — we track how many times your games are played. This is tied to your account but not to individual players.
• Active sessions — when you join a game, we temporarily record your presence in that session. This is cleared when you leave or when the server restarts.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Gizlo platform
• Authenticate your account and keep you logged in
• Display your profile, games, and friends to other users
• Run game sessions and synchronize game state between players
• Show your linked YouTube channel on your profile
• Filter chat messages to keep the platform safe
• Track game visit counts for display purposes

3. YouTube / Google Connection

If you choose to connect your YouTube account, Gizlo uses Google's OAuth 2.0 system to request read-only access to your YouTube channel information. We only access your public channel name, channel ID, and channel URL. We do not access your videos, comments, subscriptions, or any other YouTube data.

The information we store from your YouTube connection is:

• Your YouTube channel ID
• Your YouTube channel name
• Your YouTube channel URL

You can unlink your YouTube account at any time from your profile page. This immediately removes all stored YouTube data from your account.

4. Information Shared With Others

Your username, bio, games, and linked YouTube channel are visible to other Gizlo users on your public profile. Your friends list is visible to you only.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before being stored. Session tokens are randomly generated UUIDs. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you wish to have your account and all associated data deleted, contact us at the email address below and we will process your request.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Gizlo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
